Dick is a proud graduate of the University of Georgia.

Dick’s Accomplishments and Honors at UGA:

  • President of the University of Georgia National Alumni Association, 1994-1996.
  • Received the University’s Distinguished Alumni Award, 1995.
  • Named Outstanding Alumnus at the Grady College of Journalism, 1988.
  • Received the Blue Key Award for Leadership to the State and to the University, 1996.
  • Recipient of The Sphinx, the University’s highest non-academic award, 1994.
  • Member of the Greek Horsemen and Gridiron.
  • C. Richard Yarbrough Public Relations Laboratory at the Grady College of Journalism named in his honor, 1995.
  • Emeritus Trustee of The University of Georgia Foundation.


Pedestrian-friendly Athens is known internationally for sports and music:

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide.
