December 27, 2010: Say Good-Bye To 2010 And Hello To Good Friends

December 27, 2010 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Good grief!  I haven’t gotten used to writing 2010 yet and 2011 is here. I don’t know about you but I was pretty much ready to pull the plug on this year along about July.  One more self-serving political candidate in one more boring debate intoning a platform of lower taxes, better schools, smaller government, peace on earth and a partridge in every pear tree and I would have … [Read more...] about December 27, 2010: Say Good-Bye To 2010 And Hello To Good Friends

December 20, 2010: Mr. Thingamabob Is Making It Difficult To Get A Job In Gov.-Elect Deal’s Administration

December 20, 2010 by webmaster Leave a Comment

For weeks, I awaited a call from Gov.-elect Nathan Deal informing me that I would be a member of his transition team.  The call never came. It could have been my fault.  We have a thingamabob on our telephone that blocks calls from people selling aluminum siding, grave plots and magazine subscriptions.  These are defined as “nuisance calls.”  There is a distinct possibility … [Read more...] about December 20, 2010: Mr. Thingamabob Is Making It Difficult To Get A Job In Gov.-Elect Deal’s Administration

December 13, 2010: There Is Much To Believe In At Christmas

December 13, 2010 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I believe in Christmas. I believe as a Christian that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus, the Son of God.  The Messiah. I believe you have the right to disagree with me, but I know what I believe in my heart. I believe no Christmas is official until someone sings “O Holy Night” (no crooning, please) on Christmas Eve.  I will accept the Hallelujah Chorus from … [Read more...] about December 13, 2010: There Is Much To Believe In At Christmas

December 6, 2010: Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Working To Make Us Safer

December 6, 2010 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Two things keep me awake at night:  The threat of terrorism and wondering what, if anything, our federal government is doing about it. Evidently, my interview with Atlanta television anchor Justin Farmer in Atlanta a few weeks ago about his reports of Mexican drug lords funneling illegal immigrants, drugs and – yes – terrorists into our country has a lot of you feeling the … [Read more...] about December 6, 2010: Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Working To Make Us Safer

November 28, 2010: Tis The Season To For Some Positive News

November 28, 2010 by webmaster Leave a Comment

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states clearly that nobody can infringe on my right of free speech.  You can get in serious trouble for that. “Bosh,” says The Woman Who Shares My Name. I have no idea what “bosh” means but evidently the Constitution allows her to say stuff like that without the ACLU getting in a dither and we all know that it doesn’t take much to … [Read more...] about November 28, 2010: Tis The Season To For Some Positive News

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
