December 31, 2023: Gender Identity Engenders Conflicting Emotions

January 9, 2024 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I am so conflicted these days.  I haven’t been my usual sharp incisive self.  Even the RITNOs (Republicans in Trump’s Name Only) must be wondering why I haven’t jerked their pompous, self-righteous chains recently.  Same with the Chardonnay-sipping liberal weenies who vigorously defend free speech on college campuses as long as it is pro-Palestinian only. There is good … [Read more...] about December 31, 2023: Gender Identity Engenders Conflicting Emotions

December 24, 2023: Could That Be 2024 Heading This Way?

January 2, 2024 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Wait a minute!  What was that that just blew by me?  It looks like 2023 but it has gone so fast I hardly saw it.  Okay, I know we have a few days left in the year but by the time I write this and you read it, it will probably be July.  Or at least it seems that way. I remember sitting in Ms. Bolton’s 5th Grade class at S. R. Young in College Park and thinking the school day … [Read more...] about December 24, 2023: Could That Be 2024 Heading This Way?

December 17, 2023: Canine Assistants Prove That Going To The Dogs Is A Good Thing

December 27, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

You’ve heard the old saying that things are going to the dogs.  After talking to Jennifer Arnold, we should be so lucky.  Ms. Arnold is founder and executive director of Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization which provides service dogs to adults and children with physical disabilities and other special needs. It was suggested I talk to her by Mike McConnell, a loyal … [Read more...] about December 17, 2023: Canine Assistants Prove That Going To The Dogs Is A Good Thing

December 10, 2023: A Sense of Closure Over A Fraternity Brother Long Lost

December 16, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

The mystery is solved.  I now know what happened to my fraternity brother, Maj. Paschal Boggs, USMC, who was declared Missing in Action in 1967.  Finally, there is a sense of closure. Pat Boggs and I were from the same town, East Point, and undergrads at the University of Georgia.  I happened to run into him one day on campus and he invited me to visit his fraternity, Lambda … [Read more...] about December 10, 2023: A Sense of Closure Over A Fraternity Brother Long Lost

December 3, 2023: An Awakening on the Subject of Sleep Deprivation

December 13, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

You never know what you are going to discover in the process of churning out columns.  And, of course, I have an obligation to share with you any new and exciting developments, hoping that at your next cocktail party or church social, you can dazzle the crowd by quoting a factoid you found on these pages and see the look on their faces. I have just read a report that the … [Read more...] about December 3, 2023: An Awakening on the Subject of Sleep Deprivation

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
