October 20, 2024: Once Again No Nobel Prize In Literature

October 29, 2024 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

It is my sad duty to tell you, dear readers, that I have once again been denied the Nobel Prize in Literature that I so richly deserve along with the 11 million Swedish krona, about $1 million, that I would have donated to my favorite charity -- me.  And then there are the 81,380 nouns, verbs, present participles and all that other stuff I so deftly created over the past year … [Read more...] about October 20, 2024: Once Again No Nobel Prize In Literature

October 13, 2024: Maybe Bedbugs Aren’t So Crazy After All

October 22, 2024 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

You have to be very careful in this business when tossing out opinions.  You can get yourself in trouble if you say the wrong thing.  This is a litigious world in which we live. For example, if I say that  I think Cong. Marjorie Tylor Greene is as crazy as  a bedbug, I just might find myself facing a libel suit.  From bedbugs.  Admittedly, bedbugs don’t have the best … [Read more...] about October 13, 2024: Maybe Bedbugs Aren’t So Crazy After All

October 6, 2024: Florida Sheriff Walking Tall On School Shooting Threats

October 15, 2024 by Dick Yarbrough Leave a Comment

I have a new hero.  His name is Mike Chitwood and he is the sheriff of Volusia County, Florida, which includes an area known as Daytona Beach.  I assume you have heard of the place. Sheriff Chitwood is tired of a bunch of brats calling schools and threatening to shoot up the place, like it was some kind of joke.  For the 2022-2023 school year in Volusia County, Chitwood said … [Read more...] about October 6, 2024: Florida Sheriff Walking Tall On School Shooting Threats

September 29, 2024: Goodbye Hurricane Helene And Good Riddance

October 7, 2024 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

Hello, Hurricane Helene.  Goodbye, Hurricane Helene.  Please pardon us for showing a lack of Southern hospitality, but you were not welcomed to come in the first place and we are glad to see you go.  Speaking of hospitality, you didn’t show much yourself.  You just roared in and made a pluperfect mess of things. You were referred  to as a “Monster Storm.” That is what … [Read more...] about September 29, 2024: Goodbye Hurricane Helene And Good Riddance

September 22, 2024: A Reminder That Kindness Is Needed Daily

October 1, 2024 by webmaster

Can we do it?  You and I?  Can we be kind?  More importantly, can we be kind at least once a day for a whole month?  I didn’t think this idea up but I wish I had because it is a great and much-needed one.  I got it from a daily devotional courtesy of Northside United Methodist Church in Atlanta and Nancy Jeanne Chadwick, the Children's Ministry Associate.  She may work with … [Read more...] about September 22, 2024: A Reminder That Kindness Is Needed Daily

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
