March 16, 2015: Thankful For A New Generation Of Committed Methodist Ministers

March 24, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I spent last week helping to assess a group of people for a job I couldn’t do if my life depended on it. Actually, what they were seeking is not a job; it is a calling. And my life here and in the hereafter depends on how well they do it. I am part of a group of Methodist ministers and laity that evaluate candidates for ordination into the North Georgia Conference of the … [Read more...] about March 16, 2015: Thankful For A New Generation Of Committed Methodist Ministers

March 9, 2015: Junior E. Lee Analyzes Legislature’s Refusal To Lower Age Limits

March 18, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

It is with regret I tell you that our intrepid public servants in the Legislature have scuttled a bill that would have lowered the age of eligibility to serve as a member of the House of Representatives to 18 years of age and to 21 in the State Senate. I don’t think there was much enthusiasm for the measure from those between the ages of 18 and 21, anyway. Their concern was … [Read more...] about March 9, 2015: Junior E. March 2, 2015: Will This Be A Better World Because You And I Were Here?

March 10, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Will this be a better world because you and I spent some time here? Can we really make a difference? I thought about that after a note I received from Jan Goodard, of Snellville. She wanted me to know about a “special guy” named is Mike Goodard, who also happens to be her husband. Jan said, “I read your column regularly and know that you take a special interest in people who … [Read more...] about March 2, 2015: Will This Be A Better World Because You And I Were Here?

February 23, 2015: Don’t Know Much About History? This Test Is For You

March 2, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

As you may have heard, some of our intrepid public servants under the Gold Dome are unhappy with the Advanced Placement U.S. History test and the College Board which administers the tests. The General Assembly is considering a Senate resolution to ask that the test be removed from Georgia classrooms. Supporters of the resolution say the test leans left politically and has an … [Read more...] about February 23, 2015: Don’t Know Much About History? This Test Is For You

February 16, 2015: Jekyll Island Authority Holds Its Fire on Deer Population

February 23, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

If you are a supercilious liberal you-know-what or a sanctimonious Bible thumper, I have some good news for you. I am giving you both the week off. Enjoy it while you can. I will be back. Today, I am celebrating with my deer friends on Jekyll Island. You may recall that last year members of the Jekyll Island Authority decreed that there were too many of them — deer, not … [Read more...] about February 16, 2015: Jekyll Island Authority Holds Its Fire on Deer Population

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
