August 10, 2015: Some Random Thoughts On Some Random Subjects

August 19, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Hooray! The State of Georgia, CSX Transportation, Murray County and the Georgia Ports Authority have announced construction of the Appalachian Regional Port to be built in Murray County in Northwest Georgia. Automobiles, carpet and flooring and other goods from Georgia and neighboring states will be shipped via a direct 388-mile CSX rail line to the Georgia Ports Authority’s … [Read more...] about August 10, 2015: Some Random Thoughts On Some Random Subjects

August 3, 2015: By Popular Demand Junior E. Lee Analyzes Presidential Races

August 10, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Please don’t say anything to Junior E. Lee about this but I had several people come up to me after a recent speech to ask why they had not seen his observations in the paper recently. If he knew that, he might ask for a raise. For those of you who are new to the planet — and judging by some of my recent mail, I think an extraterrestrial being currently resides among us — … [Read more...] about August 3, 2015: By Popular Demand Junior E. July 27, 2015: How To Be A Liberal In One Angry Letter

August 4, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I want you to hear this from me rather than from Donald Trump. I have been outed. I am a “bed-wetting liberal.” No longer can I hide in the closet, among my bell-bottom pants and Nehru jackets that I am sure will be making a stylistic comeback one of these days. One of my adoring fans — let’s call him Angry White Guy — didn’t think much of my recent suggestion to U.S. Rep. … [Read more...] about July 27, 2015: How To Be A Liberal In One Angry Letter

July 20, 2015: Blessed Are The Peacemakers Who State The Obvious

July 27, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

Blessed are we, the peacemakers. Ours is a lonely lot. I had hoped I could cut back on pacifying petulant poops and spend more time on my latest passion — learning to play the flugelhorn.  Alas, it is not to be. My skills as a peacemaker are once again required. And wouldn’t you know it? I had just mastered the aria “Lascia ch’io pianga” from Handel’s opera, “Rinaldo.” … [Read more...] about July 20, 2015: Blessed Are The Peacemakers Who State The Obvious

July 13, 2015: Jekyll Island Deer Welcome News They Are Now Official

July 21, 2015 by webmaster Leave a Comment

In the midst of all the turmoil over recent Supreme Court decisions on Obamacare and gay marriage as well as the furor over the Confederate battle flag, you may have missed the big news. The white-tailed deer has been selected the official mammal of the state of Georgia. This was especially welcomed news for my friend Claude and his white-tailed colleagues on Jekyll Island. As … [Read more...] about July 13, 2015: Jekyll Island Deer Welcome News They Are Now Official

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
