February 26, 2023: Discussing Political Realities With Ryo Morning Coffee Club

March 7, 2023 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

When Skeeter Skates calls, you had better put everything on hold.  He just did and I just did.  For those of you who may not be familiar with Skeeter, he is the proprietor of Skeeter Skates Tree Stump Removal and Plow Repair in Ryo, Georgia and a legend in his field. He is also the current presiding chair of the Ryo Morning Coffee Club, a collection of Great Americans which … [Read more...] about February 26, 2023: Discussing Political Realities With Ryo Morning Coffee Club

February 18, 2023: Contemplating Life On This Tiny Blue Dot

Please read this slowly.  Read it alone.  Read it with someone.  Read it not just once.  Read it several times.  Then read again  These are not my words.  These are the words of the famed astronomer Dr. Carl Sagan. It was 33 years ago this month (February 14, 1990, to be exact) that NASA’s space probe, Voyager 1, which had been launched on Sept. 5, 1977, took one last … [Read more...] about February 18, 2023: Contemplating Life On This Tiny Blue Dot

February 11, 2023: We the Unwashed Get Hosed Again

February 20, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I am struggling to come up with just the right word to describe the trip two lame duck politicians and their posse took to Europe this past November on your and my dime (aka, taxpayers.) Boondoggle, which is defined as “an activity that is wasteful or pointless but gives the appearance of having value,” is about the best I can do at the moment.  But, arrogant and insensitive … [Read more...] about February 11, 2023: We the Unwashed Get Hosed Again

February 5, 2023: Wonder Why We Are Sleepless In Georgia?

February 14, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

I know you are very busy and I don’t to take up a lot of your time, but I think you need to see this. A firm called Diamond Rehab Thailand, which calls itself one of the leading luxury insomnia treatment centers in Asia (I’m not sure how many luxury insomnia treatment centers there are in Asia to begin with, but that’s a story for another day), sent a list of the Most … [Read more...] about February 5, 2023: Wonder Why We Are Sleepless In Georgia?

January 29, 2023: Random Thoughts on Random Subjects

February 7, 2023 by webmaster

Sen. Brandon Beach, R, Alpharetta, has introduced Senate Bill 7, known as the “3G” bill or the “Gangs, Guns, Gone” bill.  It would impose a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence for anyone who uses a gun while committing or attempting to commit a violent felony, whether the weapon was discharged or not.  The 10 years would precede whatever other sentence might be imposed by the … [Read more...] about January 29, 2023: Random Thoughts on Random Subjects

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
