April 9, 2023: Random Thoughts On Random Subjects

April 20, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

As I watched the surreal events this past week concerning the first-ever criminal indictment of a former president of the United States, I thought of a passage in the Old Testament, Hosea 8:7:  "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind."  Donald Trump, who has sown a lot of wind, is reaping the whirlwind of potentially damaging investigations from a number … [Read more...] about April 9, 2023: Random Thoughts On Random Subjects

April 2, 2023: It’s Not Public Schools That Are Failing, It Is Society

April 10, 2023 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

When did public schools start failing?  It had to be after I graduated.  I seem to recall a group of dedicated teachers who taught me how to read and write, add and subtract and even multiply and divide.  All these many eons later, I still remember them: Ms. Dent, in the 3rd Grade; Ms. Bolton, in the 5th Grade; Ms. Largin, in the 6th; Mr. Gibbons, my high school geography … [Read more...] about April 2, 2023: It’s Not Public Schools That Are Failing, It Is Society

March 26, 2023: It’s Not The Wolves We Should Worry About, But The Termites

April 4, 2023 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

Columnist David French is a recent addition to the editorial pages of  the New York Times.  (Yes, I read the New York Times, but I don’t inhale.)  His is a conservative voice.  Born in Alabama and currently living in Tennessee, French describes himself as a “Reagan Republican” going back to his early teens.  I like him already. French was graduated from Lipscomb University, … [Read more...] about March 26, 2023: It’s Not The Wolves We Should Worry About, But The Termites

March 19, 2023: What Is Behind Fulton DA’s Investigation of Trump?

March 31, 2023 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

Antonio Brown, 23, was recently indicted for the brutal stabbing and killing of 77-year-old Ellen Bowles last December inside a gated community in Northside Atlanta.  He faces a host of felony charges in connection with that horrific event. Chances are it will be a long time before his case is ever adjudicated.  While it is said the wheels of justice grind slowly, they have … [Read more...] about March 19, 2023: What Is Behind Fulton DA’s Investigation of Trump?

March 5, 2023: At UGA, Bad Decisions Bring Tragic Consequences

March 14, 2023 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

The Beloved Woman Who Shared My Name used to tell her grandsons, “You are free to make any decision you wish.  Just remember that with those decisions come consequences, good or bad.” I thought about those wise words while pondering some very bad decisions that have cost two people their lives and have cast a pall over my alma mater. Chandler LeCroy, 24, a recruiting … [Read more...] about March 5, 2023: At UGA, Bad Decisions Bring Tragic Consequences

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
