May 25, 2023 by domainadmin Leave a Comment

A recent poll from Associated Press and the University of Chicago’s research center NORC found that 70 percent of Americans, including 44 percent of Republicans and 63 percent of independents do not want Donald Trump to run for president in 2024.  The same poll found only 26% of Americans want to see Joe Biden run again in 2024, including 77% who say they are … [Read more...] about May 14, 2023: A Choice of Biden or Trump Not Much of A Choice

May 7, 2023: The Bare Facts About Gardeners Shucking More Than Corn

May 16, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

The things I do for you.  While other columnists prattle on about stuff like the war in Ukraine, the economy, whether Donald Trump goes to jail or back to the White House, whether Joe Biden has a pulse or note and the underlying factors behind the rising cost of kumquats, I seek out subjects designed specifically for your interest and edification that the prattlers overlook.  … [Read more...] about May 7, 2023: The Bare Facts About Gardeners Shucking More Than Corn

April 30, 2023: Finding Some Good News in A Bad News Business

May 10, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

In a Sunday School class I have been attending, the subject of the media’s constant barrage of bad news was discussed.  I kept my mouth shut because I am part of the media in my own small way and, besides, I am more worried on Sundays about trying to get my sorry soul saved than I am about how news is disseminated.  But, yes, I will admit that there is a lot of bad news in the … [Read more...] about April 30, 2023: Finding Some Good News in A Bad News Business

May 3, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

It has been awhile since I heard from Skeeter Skates and his colleagues at the Ryo Morning Coffee Club.  That ended this week. In case you are new to these parts, Skeeter is the owner and operator of Skeeter Skates Tree Stump Removal and Plow Repair in Ryo, Georgia.  He is also the current presiding chair of the Ryo Morning Coffee Club, a collection of Great Americans which … [Read more...] about April 23, 2023: Talking Politics With Skeeter Skates and the Ryo Morning Coffee Club

April 16, 2023: Deciphering What Our Intrepid Public Servants Say and What It Means

April 27, 2023 by webmaster Leave a Comment

The following is a Public Service announcement:  Congress is in recess and members are back home.  Kiwanians and Rotarians, Chambers of Commerce and other assorted groups can likely expect a visit from their intrepid public servants. If you are tied up and unable to make it to one of their fly-bys because you have more important things to do like scrubbing the bathtub or … [Read more...] about April 16, 2023: Deciphering What Our Intrepid Public Servants Say and What It Means

Dicktations: Here’s What I’m Thinking

State Sen.Steve Gooch, R-Dahlonega, has announced he is running for lieutenant governor.  Gooch is the guy who said that approving permits to strip-mine the Okefenokee for titanium dioxide to manufacture, among other things, toothpaste whitener is not a legislative matter.  It is up to the bureaucrats to decide. This, despite overwhelming opposition from Georgians across the state.  File that away and remember it when it comes time to vote.  I know I will. … [Read More...] about A long memory

Yarbrough received over 1,000 email responses last year – both positive and negative. Though most of the emails he receives support his viewpoints, one thing is for sure: Dick Yarbrough’s column speaks to people and they respond. Here is a sampling of email responses Yarbrough has received in the past:

  • Thanks for writing what we all are thinking.
  • I am annoyed by anybody who presumes to know what Georgians think.  And that, sir, includes you.
