  • President of the University of Georgia National Alumni Association, 1994-1996.
  • Received the University's Distinguished Alumni Award, 1995.
  • Named Outstanding Alumnus at the Grady College of Journalism, 1988.
  • Received the Blue Key Award for Leadership to the State and to the University, 1996.
  • Recipient of The Sphinx, the University's highest non-academic award, 1994. 
  • Member of the Greek Horsemen and Gridiron.
  • C. Richard Yarbrough Public Relations Laboratory at the Grady College of Journalism named in his honor, 1995.
